Types of Jobs
There are many different types of job opportunities within United Airlines. The more highly visible positions range from baggage handlers, to flight attendants, to customer service specialists, to ticket sales. Those that play a prominent role within the company but are not as visible in the public eye include pilots, software and tech specialists, and management roles.
Entry level positions within the company tend to start out around $13 to $14 per hour, depending on your location. Positions like flight attendant can pay as much as $45,000 per year after a few years of experience. A customer service rep will make about $15 to $17 per hour. Management roles within the company can make anywhere from $70,000 to more than $120,000 per year, depending on the amount of experience and position you fill within the company. There is a lot of room for working with customers, and because air travel can be a high stress occurrence, oftentimes customers will be irritable or trying. Employees across the board need to be calm, patient, and have great customer service skills. You should be very mature and have a love of working with people, too.

The easiest way to do this is to go to their homepage and scroll to the bottom of the page. Here, you will find a heading titled “Corporate Information.” The last link on this list is “Careers.” From here, you can search through the jobs that are available. The jobs are broken down into a few different categories which allows for finding something that matches your employment needs more completely.
The application is not comprised of anything out of the ordinary, but it’s still very important to spend some extra time going over your answers to ensure that you’ve answered everything correctly and to the best of your ability. Give yourself about 60 minutes to go over everything and double check for accuracy.

Your first interview with the company is typically a phone or group one, depending on where you are located. If you get a one on one interview, be sure that you create a great impression. Spend time researching the company so that you can answer all questions to the best of your ability. Be sure to prepare at least two or three of your own questions for the end of the interview. These questions should reflect not just your knowledge of the company, but should show those interviewing you that you can and want to be a top contributor for the company.
