Types of Jobs
Like most other large grocery stores, Kroger has a number of different job opportunities. These range from entry level positions to upper management and corporate roles. Entry jobs include cashiers, baggers, clerks, associates, and shelf stockers. Management roles cover a wide number of areas, from individual departments to general management positions that oversee the entire store.
Entry positions start out at minimum wage at Kroger. Cashiers can expect to start here, but can make up to $10 or $11 per hour. Baggers tend to top out at $9 per hour. In store, associates and clerks can see pay ranging from minimum wage up to $10 or so an hour. Pharmacy jobs, such as technicians, will make a bit more than any other of these roles because of the nature of their duties.
Managers and supervisors see a wide range of pay, mostly depending upon individual and store performance. Supervisors should expect to start at about $10 per hour. Starting salaries can begin as low as $17,000 per year for assistants, while full managers should expect to start at about $30,000 per year. General managers in successful stores can see pay go up over $60,000 once they have proven that they are dedicated and successful for the company.
Corporate roles within Kroger are many as this is a large chain. They range from human resources, to finance, to legal, and more. These vary in pay depending upon experience and responsibility.
