I applied to work at a store and though I did really well on the interview, but I didn’t get hired. do you know how companies make the decision on who gets hired and who doesn’t?
When there are many qualified applicants to the same position, companies often look to other traits to decide who to hire. Things like personality, dependability, how close you live to the office, and your likelihood to stay with the company are considered, too. For example, if someone lives 30 minutes closer to the store than you do, with all other things considered, that person has an advantage because over the long term, they are more likely to stay with the company since their travel costs will be lower. They’re also going to be less likely to ask for a raise in the future as a result of this.
