I found a job online that I want to apply for, and they have listed at the bottom of the page the things that they want applicants to have. I have most of them, but not all. Should I still apply for the job or is it a waste of time?
First, if you apply for a job, the worst that can happen is that you don’t get the job. The best that can happen is that you do! Second, depending on the job, it’s not realistic to expect that the ideal candidate for a job has expertise in every area that an employer wishes them to have. A lot of things can be learned on the job, so if you believe that an employee can do a good job at the position you are applying for even while missing one or two of the requirements, then it’s worth it for you to apply. Many employers will list requirements in terms of importance, and as long as the most important things are covered, then the rest can be learned on the job. Take a look at your background, and if you think that you would still be successful, it’s worth applying to.
