I am physically handicapped and looking for a job. Can I be denied a job because of this? I am having a really tough time getting interviews.

You cannot legally be denied a job because of your disability. If your disability somehow prevents you from doing the job completely, then the employer is required to make reasonable accommodations to assist you with the job. In some cases, where reasonable accommodations cannot be made or a disability somehow impacts your safety, then the hiring manager can hire someone else with the same overall qualifications, but these instances do not occur frequently. More likely, you are applying in a tough job market and experiencing the same thing that thousands of others are with the difficulty of finding a job.
