I applied for a position within my company last week, but I was told by HR that I didn’t have enough experience for the new position. How can I get that?
The best way to get experience is time, really. Depending on how long you’ve been with your company and which type of position you applied for, there are other things that you can do, too. I recommend speaking to your direct supervisor and asking them in what areas you could improve. Also, while your talking to him or her, be sure to ask what kinds of things they look for when it comes to promotions or advancement within the company. Spend at least six months doing your best to exemplify those traits and skills that are mentioned, being sure to check in once in a while (once every two months, or so) to see how you’re doing. At the end of the six months, if there is another promotion opportunity available, speak to your supervisor again about applying for it.
