I have applied for a lot of jobs but haven’t had any luck getting a job yet. I try to never apply for more than 8 jobs at any given moment so I don’t have to keep track of too many different outstanding applications. Is this smart, or should I cut that number back?
There’s no concrete number of applications that you should have sent out at once. Really, your goal is to get a good job, so as long as you are tailoring your search toward that, then you can send out as many applications as you want. Following up with them is important, and if there is a certain number where this stops being possible, then that should be your cutoff point. But don’t feel like you need to limit yourself to an arbitrary number like 8 if you can easily follow up with all of the applications.
