Job Applicant QuestionsCategory: InterviewWho makes hiring decisions?

I’m interviewing for a job, and one of my friends is a manager at this location. He told me that he couldn’t be on the interview because of that, but I was wondering who makes the hiring decisions in a company?

In most bigger companies, it is a mixture between human resources, management, and anyone else involved in the interview process. In this case, even though your friend is in management and it seems like they would normally be involved in the hiring process, it would be unethical for them to be involved here. That’s why he couldn’t be in the interview. However, he is allowed to make a recommendation. In the end, though, it will most likely be those that interview plus maybe a few other people if human resources isn’t included in the interview that make the ultimate decision.
