Mr. Bryant Mcclain Staff asked 8 years ago

I’m 50, and I am ready for a new job. I’ve been told that it’s too late for me to change careers. Is this true?

I don’t believe that it is ever too late to change careers if you find yourself in the right situation. If you are financially stable enough that you can afford taking time off for a job search and potentially starting at a lower pay than what you are currently making, then 50 is certainly not too old for a career change. Even 60 or 65 isn’t too old for this. You might find it helpful to transition into a career that your past experience has qualified you for, and showing this on your resume and application will help your chances. Keep in mind that it is not legal for employers to discriminate you because of age.
