Job Applicant QuestionsCategory: ResumeShould I overlap info on my resume?
KMurray Staff asked 7 years ago

I was filling out my job application and they ask a lot of questions about past employment, and a lot of those things I already had on my resume. Should I put the information on there twice, or what should I do?

Your resume is meant to be a very brief overview. The job application is your chance to go into more detail. If there are a couple key points that you list on your resume, and then there are more in depth questions asked on the application, a tiny bit of overlap is fine. Think of the resume as the bullet points version of your qualifications, where you go into more detail and explain things on the application. If needed, you can always go into even more of the finer points when you are at the interview.
