I have worked as a freelance graphic designer for the last five years, but I am trying to transition back into a fulltime job with a major company. At my last interview, they asked me how they knew I could be a team player after working alone for so long, and I wasn’t sure how to answer this.
If you think about it, you haven’t worked alone at all during that time. Sure, maybe you’ve had to work for yourself to find clients, but really, once you get a client, it’s a matter of working with them and surpassing their needs and expectations if you wish to keep that client. A strong client base doesn’t happen because you’re a lone wolf, but rather a skilled multitasking team player. I would point out this fact at your next interview.
