These will vary depending on the time of day that you work, and the amount of business that your restaurant does. On a good day, a server can make over $100. Cooks will see their pay start out around $9 per hour, although with experience it can go up to $15. Managers see their pay average at about $40,000 per year, based upon experience.

Why Denny’s?

Denny’s is a large company, and its presence has become a large part of many communities. This is a family style restaurant, and many families take their children here for meal. And because it’s open around the clock, it also has a café feel to it at times, increasing the chain’s customer base. Denny’s was founded in 1953, and they have grown immensely since then.

They do offer benefits to qualified employees. They offer health, vision, and dental insurance, 401(k) retirement packages, meal discounts, and paid time off. As a general rule of thumb, you need to work more than 30 hours a week to qualify for benefits.

In certain states, the hours which a 16-year-old may work will vary. At age 18, there are many more options for applicant. Because the restaurant is open 24 hours a day, you may be asked to have open availability in order to qualify for employment, too.

External Resources

When you go into the restaurant, whether it be for an interview or to pick up an application, be sure to dress nicely and act professionally. This is the first impression that you will be giving, and because this is such a highly visible position, any hiring manager will expect their employees to look and act the part that they are applying for naturally. At an interview, be sure to bring up any restaurant experience you have, or if you do not have this, mention any customer service experience you have. If you’re fresh out of school, or still in school, any volunteer activities that you have participated in can be helpful as a replacement. Answer questions completely, be polite, and be sure to look confident and friendly.
