Why Gander Mountain?
Gander Mountain has seen ups and downs, as have most retail locations thanks to the rise in prominence of the internet. Online sales have changed how almost every company operates, and Gander Mountain is no different. The company has restructured, going from a publicly traded company to a privately held one, but they are still a strong company and have a solid customer base.
Gander Mountain does their best to compensate employees competitively and reward them for their hard work. Benefits like 401(k) retirement accounts, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, health insurance, and merchandise discounts are also options. Full time employees must wait six months before having access to all of the benefits available. Part time employees gain access to these things after one year.
Who Can Apply?
You must be at least 16 to get a part time job at Gander Mountain. Fulltime employees must be 18. Certain sections of the store require you to be 18 to work in regardless of employment status because firearms are sold here. This depends on your state, as well. You do not need to have a high school diploma to get hired, but if you want to move up into a supervisory role, you should have one. Retail experience can be helpful, but it’s not required. You should mostly just have a love of sports, the outdoors, and of helping others. These will take you a long way within the company.
Gander Mountain employees are expected to do what’s right for the company while maintaining a great, professional relationship with all employees. You should always be at work, on time, and ready to work. You should also have a familiarity with the store’s layout and which products are carried so that you can fully assist all customers.
